Biography

Tamilla Koulieva is a prominent Greek-Russian actress and director. She was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, grew up in Russia and after completing her studies in directing at the Moscow University of Culture and acting at the Moscow State Institute of Theatre Art (GITIS), she moved to Greece, where she continued her career.
Since 1992 she has been teaching acting and improvisation according to Mikhail Chekhov’s methods at various drama schools, as well as at the National Theatre and the State Theatre of Northern Greece. She has starred in many Greek films, collaborating with great directors, and has received excellent awards and nominations.
The Tailor, in which he stars, was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Japanese Academy Awards. The film “Meteora” was nominated at the Francophonie Film Festival, while “Smyrna My Beloved” was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award at the IRIS awards.
Her television career is equally rich, with her participation in numerous series. For her participation in the TV series “Amateur Man” she was awarded as the most popular actress in Greece.
In the theatre, her presence is impressive, having played leading roles in great performances and historical theatres, such as the Herodes Atticus Conservatory and the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. A notable moment in her career was the role of Medea in 2000 at Epidaurus, with two record-breaking performances. Her acting and directing are considered a breakthrough in contemporary theatre and are taught in acting schools around the world.
She has been distinguished for her multi-dimensional career and her dedication to the arts, while her contribution to the Greek art scene is significant and lasting. For this reason he has received important distinctions, such as the UNESCO Gold Medal for Arts, Speech and Sciences, he is an honorary member of the Slavic University of Baku and has been honoured by the Hadjikyriakio Foundation for Child Protection.
He has served as a member of the jury at major film festivals, such as the Thessaloniki International Film Festival and the Athens International Film Festival “Premiere Nights”. She was also the presenter of the documentary series “Athens calling Moscow” on ERT.
